Batman SHOCK: Joker solo movie starring Jared Leto CONFIRMED | Films | Entertainment

Two years ago the Oscar-winning Leto played The Joker in Suicide Squad. However his take on Batman’s nemesis was barely more than a cameo when the film hit cinemas.

But with the DC Extended Universe’s future in what appears to be a flux, following Justice League’s flop, his future in Warner Bros’ franchise hasn’t been so clear.

Last year Margot Robbie teased a Joker and Harley Quinn movie and other project are in development like Suicide Squad 2 – a film that is set for 2019.

But then came the news that Martin Scorsese had a Joker origins movie in the works, set in the 1980s, but they weren’t looking at Leto to star.

In fact it soon became apparent that this film would be released by Warner Bros but not set in the DCEU.

Instead it would take place in a different reality like the animated films and The LEGO Batman Movie.

At first Leonardo DiCaprio was rumoured to play the Joker, but now it looks like Phoenix is set for that movie.

But we could have two Jokers existing at once, with Variety now reporting Leto is getting his own Clown Prince of Crime movie.

The 30 Seconds To Mars frontman will star and executive produce the solo movie.

, who spoke with sources, reports: “[The film will pave] the way for future movies branching from “Suicide Squad.

“Plot details are currently unknown, but the studio’s idea is to expand on the world created by Suicide Squad and tie into future instalments of that property.”

Meanwhile Robbie’s Harley Quinn is lining up for Birds of Prey,

Variety’s Justin Kroll tweeted: “Take this with a grain of salt as things are constantly changing in the DCEU but I’m hearing the Penguin is possibly the choice to play the main villain in THE BATMAN.

“Sources add even if Reeves decide to go another route the studio could then make him the main villain in Birds of Prey.

“Reeves is still working on the script, so that could always change but of the multiple BIRDS OF PREY scripts submitted, one does have the Penguin as the main heavy.

“Either way, it seems Warner Bros wants this character cast in the universe sooner rather then later.”
