White confirmed the Irishman’s long-awaited comeback fight will see him lock horns with the new lightweight champion during the UFC 225 post-fight press conference in the early hours of Sunday morning.

When asked what was next for Nurmagomedov, White replied: “Conor.”

The eagerness for a fight between the pair has been high ever since the UFC snubbed Nurmagomedov by giving his promised title shot to McGregor at 205.

And it reached fever pitch in April when McGregor attacked a bus carrying ‘The Eagle’ at the UFC 223 media day, throwing a dolly through one of its windows.

White is seemingly aware of the immense interest in the proposed bout and has admitted it’s the ‘fight to make.’

“We’ll see what happens with Conor McGregor, he’s got his court stuff in New York,” the UFC chief told TSN’s Kara Wagland.

“And he and I have still got to get together. So we’ll see how this thing plays out.

The outcome of McGregor’s court case could have significant consequences for his proposed return to the Octagon, which he hasn’t graced in nearly two years.

McGregor’s last outing inside the cage took place in the main event of UFC 205, where he knocked out Alvarez to become the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion.
