F1 news: Kimi Raikkonen makes Lewis Hamilton admission following Chinese GP practice | F1 | Sport

Hamilton recorded the quickest laps of both practice sessions as he beat his Ferrari rival by 0.359 seconds.

The Brit is hoping to continue his momentum when qualifying takes place tomorrow as he bids to break Sebastian Vettel’s blistering start to the season.

The German has won both of the opening Grands Prix, but his team-mate Raikkonen now also wants to battle at the front of the grid.

And he has warned Hamilton that he would have topped his practice time had there have not been as much traffic on the track.

“I could have gone faster but I had traffic,” said Raikkonen.

“We could push in all the places, so over one lap it seems to be OK.

“Obviously we’ll see in qualifying for everybody, but on the long run it’s tricky to say where we are because it started to rain.”

Raikkonen will race in Shanghai for the first time since he broke his mechanic’s leg in Bahrain.

But the Finn is hoping to put the devastation behind him with success in Asia.

“Obviously we had to make that decision quite early, not really knowing what would be ideal but I think we should be fine and don’t feel we are in any way limited,” added Raikkonen.

“We know what we have and we’ll make the best out of it.

“I’m really quite happy with the feeling of the car but if the race results would have been better than I would be happier.

“It doesn’t matter who’s fault it was, if you don’t get points, you don’t get points, and the only reason we’re here is to get points.

“Being quick in practice is nice but we want to finish the races in the positions we think we deserve.”
