Prince Louis Christening: Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend?

Prince Louis was born just over two months ago, with very few photographs and sightings of the prince since his birth.

But Louis will be out in public next week for his christening, taking place at the Chapel Royal in the grounds of St James’s Palace.

The venue was also shared by Prince George for his christening back in 2013.

A different location was chosen for Princess Charlotte’s christening in 2015, having took place at the Church of St Mary Magdalene at Sandringham.

One royal that didn’t attend Princess Charlotte’s christening was Prince Harry, who referred to himself as a “bad uncle” for missing the special day.

Prince Harry was away in South Africa for the christening of his niece, working on conservation projects he had already committed to.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Harry jokingly admitted he felt like a “bad uncle” for missing the event, chatting with conversation workers.

He reportedly said: “What a bad uncle I am! I should really be there. But today I am here, this is where I want to be’.”

Three years on and Harry is happily married to Meghan Markle, appearing to be have his feet firmly planted in the UK.

With Prince Louis’ christening in just over a week, Harry is expected to attend and not skip this one out.

Royal christenings are small and intimate affairs, with only 20-30 traditionally in attendance.

Along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, other members of the family expected to attend are Louis’ grandparents, Prince Charles and Camila, Duchess of Cornwall and Michael and Carole Middleton.

Prince Louis’ great grandmother, the Queen, is also expected to attend, having been at both George and Charlotte’s.

Louis’ parents Kate Middleton and Prince William are also predicted to invite some of their closest friends, including Kate’s long-term friend Sophie Carter.

Some of Kate’s lesser-known relatives could also attend, with her cousin Adam Middleton joining the family for Princess Charlotte’s day.

Despite the christening being only next week, no details have been announced on who Prince Louis’ godparents will be.

While the identity of Prince Louis’ godparents is currently very much under wraps, betting site Ladbrokes has been busy predicting who it could be.

One royal that won’t be making the cut is Prince Harry’s new bride Meghan Markle, according to new betting statistics.

Despite being the wife of Prince Louis’ uncle, Ladbrokes rated Meghan’s odds at being named godmother as 14/1, with the reason being very simple

With Meghan out of the rankings, the highest odds for the godfather role are with Prince William’s private secretary of 10 years, Miguel Head.
